Education Program
Courses are offered in the fall and spring semesters. Nutrition and Dietetics Program includes compulsory courses. In addition to the compulsory courses, there are also elective courses that students have the opportunity to choose according to their own preferences. The total required course is 180 ECTS. Compulsory courses; It focuses on Science, Basic Medicine and Social Sciences. In addition to these courses, Turkish Language, Atatürk's Principles and History of Revolution and Foreign Language (English) are also compulsory courses. When 60 ECTS is taken from elective courses, it constitutes 25% of all courses. Elective courses that can be taken from outside the department constitute 8% of all elective courses. Starting from the first year, elective courses can be taken every semester for 4 years. Among the elective courses, Nutrition and Genetics, Food Biotechnology, Basic Principles of Nutritional Sciences I-II, Biochemistry of Nutritional Diseases, Turkish Cuisine, Food Technology, Developing Standard Meal Recipes, Functional Foods, World Cuisine, Cancer and Nutrition, Food and Beverage Services Elective courses such as Management, Traditional Foods, Menu Planning, Food Hygiene, Nutrition in Old Age, Food-Drug Interaction, Nutrition in Special Situations, Eating Behavior Disorders, Food Additives, Food Sensitivity and Nutrition in Allergies are also included. Students start their internship processes with BES405 Clinical Nutrition Child Internship and BES407 Clinical Nutrition Adult Internship in the fall semester of the fourth year in order to apply the theoretical knowledge obtained in the field of Nutrition and Dietetics in different fields of study and to gain educational skills. In the spring semester of the fourth year, they complete their internship with BES406 Community Nutrition Internship and BES408 Collective Nutrition Systems Internship. In addition, they present a seminar by compiling the information in the literature on a subject, and each student prepares a graduation thesis by researching on a specific subject.
